A short loop from Romiley Station to Chadkirk Chapel, up through the woods and back along the Peak Forest Canal. Takes 1 to 1.5 hours. To avoid returning the same way, take the footpath on your left just after passing under the canal bridge (point 4a in the Friends of Romiley Station booklet). It comes out on Urwick Road, where you turn right and head back to Church Lane.

A longer loop from Romiley Station, past Chadkirk Chapel and along the River Goyt, up through Marple and back along the Peak Forest Canal, past the locks and across Marple Aqueduct. Takes 2 to 2.5 hours, with no steep climbs.
These walks come from a free booklet compiled by the Friends of Romiley Station, the volunteer group that looks after the station and its gardens. All seven start and finish at the station, so they're easy to reach by train or bus.
The routes were planned by John Simpson for the first edition in 2020 and updated for the second. The booklet is free thanks to funding from Community Rail Network.
