Privacy policy

This policy covers the Round Your Way website (roundyourway.co.uk) and the Round Your Way app for iPhone and Android. Round Your Way is run by Daz Taylor. Questions about your data: hello@roundyourway.co.uk.

The short version

• You don’t need an account to use the website or the app.
• The app doesn’t collect, store or share any personal data about you. If something breaks, an anonymous crash report helps us fix it.
• There are no adverts, and we never sell or share your data.
• The website only uses analytics cookies if you say yes.

The app

• No account, no tracking. The app has no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising identifiers.
• Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry, our error-monitoring service, so we can fix it: what went wrong, the screen it happened on, and the phone model and system version. Reports don’t include your name, location, IP address or anything that identifies you, and they’re deleted automatically after at most 90 days.
• Your location. Only if you tap “Show my location” on a walk map, and only after you allow it, the app shows your position on the map. It stays on your phone — it is never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn it off any time in your phone’s settings.
• Saved on your phone. The app keeps a copy of the latest events, walks and weather on your phone so it works without signal. Deleting the app removes it.
• Weather. The forecast is for Romiley as a whole, fetched from Open-Meteo. Your own location is not used.
• Directions and sharing. “Directions” opens Apple Maps or Google Maps, and “Share” uses your phone’s share menu; those apps’ own privacy policies apply.

The website

• Google Analytics, only with your consent. If you click “Accept” on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies and records anonymised usage (pages viewed, approximate location, device type), with IP addresses anonymised. Google may process this outside the UK under its standard contractual clauses. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. You can change your mind at any time.
• Vercel Web Analytics. To count page views, the site uses Vercel’s analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
• Error reports. If a page breaks, the site sends a report to Sentry (what went wrong, the page, and the browser type) so we can fix it. It uses no cookies and doesn’t include your IP address or anything that identifies you.
• No other cookies beyond what’s strictly necessary: remembering your cookie choice, and keeping organisers signed in to the admin area.

Services that handle requests

Like any website or app, ours relies on a few services. When your browser or phone contacts them they see your IP address, as part of how the internet works; they don’t receive anything else about you from us.

• Supabase — stores the listings (servers in London)
• Vercel — hosts the website
• Open-Meteo — weather forecasts
• OpenFreeMap — map tiles for walk and venue maps
• Expo — delivers app updates
• Sentry — error and crash reports (servers in Germany)
• Google Analytics — website only, and only with your consent

Organisers

Only the people who run Round Your Way have accounts, to add and edit listings. For them we store an email address and sign-in details.

Children

Round Your Way is for a general audience and is not aimed at children under 13.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you. Email hello@roundyourway.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes

If we change how we use data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
